Rugby is experiencing unprecedented global growth and in Asia in particular, the game is flourishing. The sport is played throughout 33 countries and the region is home to the Asian 5 Nations competition, which has a unique promotion and relegation structure and is set to become the hallmark tournament of international rugby.

Since inception Rugby in Asia’s mission has been to give comprehensive coverage to the sport at all levels, from grassroots social rugby through to international fixtures and tournaments. We are proud of the all-inclusive nature of the site and we will continue to promote growth in youth, schools, women’s and men’s rugby.

Coincidently two landmark decisions have been made in the last four months which will further increase the popularity of rugby throughout Asia and the world at large. In July the International Rugby Board awarded the 2019 Rugby World Cup to Japan and just ten days ago the International Olympic Committee ratified the decision to reintroduce rugby to the Olympic programme of events at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.
