If you are a player or a coach at any level of the game it is mandatory that you have a grasp of the Laws of the game.
Even if you are just a casual armchair spectator your enjoyment of the game will, or at least should be heightened if you have some idea as to why the referee has just given a penalty against your team. It also makes for a far more convivial atmosphere, if those who are inclined to bellow their feelings about each and every decision at the television screen in their local pub or clubhouse are basing their opinions on knowledge, rather than one-eyed guesswork.
The International Rugby Board (I.R.B.) has recently launched a new site www.irblaws.com
On the site you can read the Laws, watch video examples and animations and even take a self-test examination to check your level of knowledge. There is also a section which lets you know what all the referees’ signals mean.
Check it out and find out how much you really do know.
